DuPage County Jail

Closing Advice

Interview with Sam and Ron

JM: Is there anything else you would want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to jail?
Sam: Yes send them money because they are going to need it cause the food is not enough you have to purchase commissary to get the right amount of food.
Ron: Don't forget about them. Visit if you can, write them as much as possible, send them commissary money if you can afford it. The hardest part about being locked up is the separation from family and friends.

JM: Is there anything else you would recommend to a future inmate?
Sam: Wear 3 pair of underwear and 3 pair of socks. when in changing don't take all them off keep for yourself cause you are going to need them.
Ron: Get someone to send you commissary money, memorize any numbers and addresses of friends and family, etc.

Remember, good lubrication is an essential part of jail life. I suggest KY jelly or that flavored stuff.
